A Canadian utility was implementing a new OSI Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and needed support defining the business processes and use cases required for a successful deployment. Without a dedicated system integrator, the utility sought a partner with both ADMS implementation experience and a deep understanding of utility operations, system integrations, and organizational impacts.
Ensure the ADMS was configured to support real-world operational needs and business processes at go-live.
The project was primarily led by the utility's technology group, while business and operational stakeholders had limited involvement. This created a risk that system configurations would not align with how end users actually performed their work. In addition, the utility lacked documented current-state and future-state business processes, making it difficult to define requirements, validate workflows, and prepare for testing and adoption.
Mosaic worked directly with both operational stakeholders and the IT project team to bridge the gap between technology implementation and business needs. Leveraging expertise in utility operations, ADMS implementations, business process design, and change management, Mosaic helped the utility define how the system should support day-to-day operations.
The engagement included:
By translating operational requirements into actionable system configuration and testing criteria, Mosaic enabled the utility to make informed decisions, align stakeholders, and implement industry best practices throughout the project.
The engagement provided the foundation for a business-driven ADMS implementation and demonstrated sufficient value that the utility committed to involving Mosaic earlier in future phases of its ADMS transformation journey.
